Townhomes, new builds and a lot of moving boxes
Halfmoon has been adding homes for years, and it shows. Drive Route 146 or Route 9 and you pass townhome communities, apartment complexes and subdivisions that weren't there when a lot of current residents moved in. Mixed in are older houses from before the growth, especially toward the Crescent and the river.
That mix means a lot of Halfmoon cleaning is tied to moves. Renters leave apartments, owners trade up from a townhome to a single-family house, and buyers close on new construction. Each of those needs a different kind of clean.
Townhomes deserve their own mention because Halfmoon has so many of them. They pack a lot into a small footprint: two or three floors of carpeted stairs, a powder room plus one or two full baths, an attached garage that opens straight into the kitchen or laundry, and not much storage, so things live on counters and shelves. Stairs take real time to vacuum properly, and that garage door is where every bit of winter salt and grit enters the house. We plan for both.
Renters and owners want different things
If you rent in Halfmoon, the cleaning that matters most is the one at the end of your lease. Landlords and management companies walk through looking at the oven, the fridge, the bathroom grout and the floors along the baseboards. Our move-out cleaning covers those spots, plus inside cabinets and drawers, so you hand back the keys to a unit that's ready for the next person.
If you own, it's more about keeping up. A townhome with two levels and a couple of bathrooms is quick work on a regular schedule, and recurring house cleaning every week or two keeps it from ever reaching the point where you're spending a whole Saturday catching up. For a single-family house that hasn't had a full cleaning in a while, start with a deep cleaning and then switch to regular visits.
New construction dust
What does a new-build clean involve? A new house looks clean but isn't. Drywall sanding leaves a fine powder on every flat surface, inside cabinets and drawers, in window and door tracks, and in the vents. A post-construction clean wipes and vacuums all of it out, cleans windows and fixtures, and washes the floors before your furniture arrives.
That fine dust keeps coming out of corners for weeks if it isn't removed properly the first time. Our post-construction cleaning page covers what's included, and it applies just as well to a finished basement or a kitchen remodel in an older Halfmoon house.
Getting around Halfmoon
We cover the whole town. That includes the busy Route 9 and Crescent corridor, the neighborhoods off Route 146 heading toward Exit 9, and the quieter roads toward the town's northern edge. Traffic on Route 9 and 146 at rush hour is real, so mid-morning or early afternoon visits tend to be easiest.
Halfmoon also shares a lot with Clifton Park next door, including parts of the Shenendehowa school district and the same Northway exits, so if you're near the line, either way works. See our page on cleaning services in Clifton Park for more on how we work with busy families, or head north for house cleaning in Malta.
Before you book
A few things make the first visit go smoothly:
- Tell us if it's a townhome, apartment or single-family house, and how many bathrooms.
- Mention pets, especially if they'll be home.
- Let us know how we're getting in: key, lockbox, garage code or someone home.
- Point out any rooms or items to skip.
That's it. Get a free quote online or call (518) 464-8817 and we'll take it from there.
