Delmar homes, from the Four Corners outward
Delmar is the best-known hamlet in the Town of Bethlehem, just across the Normanskill from Albany. Delaware Avenue runs right through it, and the streets around the Four Corners are lined with older colonials, capes and foursquares, many with original hardwood, plaster walls and the kind of trim that holds dust. Head out toward Slingerlands, Glenmont or the far edges of Delmar and the houses get newer, with bigger kitchens, open floor plans and more bathrooms.
Both ends clean differently. Older Delmar houses have smaller rooms, more doorways and more detail work. Newer ones have more open floor and more surfaces that show fingerprints. We ask about your house before quoting so the time estimate actually matches it. Sunrooms and enclosed porches, common on older Delmar houses, are worth mentioning too, since all that glass collects pollen and fingerprints.
How long the first visit takes
A first clean in a Delmar home almost always takes longer than the ones that follow. We're catching up on baseboards, door frames, bathroom grout and the top of the fridge, things that a regular visit then keeps from building back up. Expect the second and third visits to be noticeably quicker.
If it's been a long while, book a proper deep clean as the starting point. After that, most Bethlehem households settle into recurring house cleaning every week or two.
What a Delmar week leaves behind
Bethlehem is a family town, and a lot of what we clean up comes from a busy family schedule. School-day mornings mean backpacks and cleats dropped at the door. Kids come back from a walk at Five Rivers with muddy sneakers, and dogs come back from the rail trail with muddy paws. Weekend sports leave grass and dirt on the floor of every car and, from there, the front hall.
The seasons add their share. Spring pollen from all those street trees settles on window sills. Winter brings salt and slush in from sidewalks and driveways. The front entry and the kitchen floor take most of it, so that's where we put extra effort.
Delmar's short commute helps here. A lot of Bethlehem residents work in downtown Albany, often for the state, and the drive up Delaware Avenue is quick. That makes a midweek daytime visit easy to arrange: you leave in the morning, we clean while the house is empty, and you come home to it done. Families who'd rather be home can book a time that works around school pickup instead.
Holidays are the other big rhythm. Bethlehem hosts a lot of family gatherings, and the weeks before Thanksgiving and the December holidays fill up fast. If you want a thorough clean before guests arrive, ask early.
Renovating an older Delmar house
A lot of Delmar's older houses get kitchens and bathrooms redone eventually, and renovation dust is a different animal. It's fine, it travels through the whole house, and it settles inside cabinets, on light fixtures and along every ledge, even in rooms the contractor never touched.
A standard clean won't fully deal with it. Our post-construction cleaning is built for this: dust removed from top to bottom, inside cabinets and drawers, vents and fixtures wiped, and floors cleaned once the dust has finally settled.
